Melbourne’s Tim Glasby (C) might miss State of Origin for Queensland after fracturing his thumb.Melbourne NRL forward Tim Glasby is in doubt for the opening State of Origin match for Queensland after fracturing his thumb.
Glasby will undergo surgery on Thursday after suffering the injury 10 minutes into the Storm’s 50-10 win over the Warriors in their NRL Anzac Day clash.
The 28-year-old got the injury strapped and tried to play on but only lasted another 15 minutes.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy said he was likely to be sidelined for four to six weeks, with the first Origin match on June 6 at the MCG.
“The doc already got him in for an x-ray and he’s having an operation tomorrow,” Bellamy said.
“He was outstanding tonight and to play like that with the injury, it just shows the calibre of him and how tough he is.”
Bellamy said it was similar to the thumb injury suffered by NSW hopeful Dale Finucane, who suffered the injury in the Storm’s round four loss to Cronulla.
