DISCUSSION: The Newcastle Live Music Taskforce at Tuesday’s first meeting. Picture: Supplied. Newcastle’s Live Music Taskforce was launchedby Newcastle state MP Tim Crakanthorp on Tuesday with the group’sstakeholdersmeeting for the first timeat Wickham Park Hotel.
Representatives oflive music venues, promoters, local artists, youth venues and council officials convened for the talk, which followedthe live music roundtable held in February.
Mr Crakanthorp said a range oftopics were discussed at the inauguralmeeting.
“We talked about the role and structure of the taskforce, the terms of reference, driving change at three levels of government, we discussed the bones of a draft Newcastle live musicplan,the parliamentary inquiry and the Newcastle hearing,” Mr Crakanthorp said.
“We got through quite a lot and it was successful.
“This is all about laying the foundations to drive change and engaging what all three levels of government can doto make sure live music in Newcastle thrives, and grows into the future.”
The taskforce has commenced a census of live music venues in Newcastle.
